Gas Furnace Consumption Ramping Up
Applying a little strategy, this data can be used to optimize the idle warm
temperature of the furnace. Simply lower the idle temperature by
25 degrees with each successive production run noting how much gas is
used to return the production operating temperature. Compare this with
amount of gas used to maintain the lower idle temperature between production runs.
Determine optimum idle temperature(s) based on the minimum amount of gas used.
The optimum temperature will most likely vary with the length time between
runs. Determine the difference in the before and after amount of gas
used and multiply by the number production runs to determine savings over time.
